Michael Helco

Executive director & campus admin, saint therese at st. mary of the woods

Michael joined Saint Therese at St. Mary of the Woods in February 2025. He administers, directs, and coordinates the services and programs for the senior community, which provides a full continuum of care for seniors. Michael has a strong background in skilled nursing management and improving financial outcomes at a campus level. Licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator and Certified Assisted Living Executive since 2017, he has operated at interim, contract, and permanent capacities throughout all major Ohio markets. He has a bachelor's in Neuroscience from Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio, and a Master's in Public Health from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio.

Michael’s favorite Saint Therese Core Value is:  Heartfelt Purpose. Since arriving at St. Mary of the Woods, I have had a great embrace from the community, residents and team members alike. Being part of the Saint Therese and the culture of the campus has made me feel at home. With my Catholic roots coinciding with our campus faith offerings, I have experienced that renewal and reinforcement of my own "Heartfelt Purpose" that is often sought when joining a community, campus, and organization.

Outside of work Michael likes spending quality time with his significant other, Anastasija, and their two Australian Shepherds, Tilly and Storm. When not walking the dogs or traveling with family, they can be found at a local restaurant or a Cavs game cheering on our local team. While raised in Northeast Ohio, Michael’s heart lies with Pittsburgh sports as a big hockey and football fan. He likes being very active and enjoys golf, flag football, kickball, and spending time at the gym during the week. He also enjoys traveling to see family on long weekends back in Youngstown and Canton, with the occasional trip out to see family in Florida. As the oldest of seven siblings, he can also be found at high school events cheering on his siblings and watching them grow into their future selves.
